2007 Guild Projects
At the November meeting, the Guild voted on two new projects for 2007. Members who would like to participate in the 2007 Guild project can choose from the following designs:
Sarah Moon's Quaker Sampler by Needleprint
This beautiful Sampler is a reproduction Quaker Sampler by Jacqueline Holdworth. The original sampler was stitched by Sarah Moon in 1795 while attending the Ackworth School. It is a polychromatic sampler filled with floral and geometirc motifs. The majority of the sampler is stitched over two, but there are some spot motifs over one.
A New Beginning by Abbey Lane Designs
This Abbey Lane design is also a beautiful sampler composed of a variety of different size motifs. The model was stitched on 32-count Irish Creme linen. It is stitched over two threads with one strand of floss. It is 198 x 196.
2007 Challenge
The Diligence Challenge is on! Contact Shirley Wilson and let her know which pieces you would like to challenge yourself to finish this year. Donate $5 per piece and let's see what we can get done!
2007 Fundraiser
In 2003 our members worked on a quilt which was given away at an opportunity drawing in 2004. This enabled us to have
two wonderful workshops in 2005; Amy Mitten and Katherine Theron. The project was great fun. Each person who signed up chose her own design to fill an eight inch square piece of linen which was stitched in an over dyed red silk donated by Gloriana Silks. The finished squares were then assembled by Gerry Manning, our quilter extraordinaire. The picture doesn't do it justice, it really must be seen in person. We've decided it's time to try another one --this time in blue. More information to come at our next meeting.
